New creative and backstage roles for The Welsh Dragon

Theatr Iolo are seeking a Trainee/Shadowing Director, Stage Manager and Deputy Stage Manager for their autumn touring production of Kyle Lima’s new play The Welsh Dragon. The play is Directed by Ewa Dina and Composed by Eadyth Crawford, with Design by Kyle Legall and Lighting Design by Katy Morison.

For ages 7-13 year olds, The Welsh Dragon features music, rap, and a historical twist. Shadowing/Trainee Director 

The Shadowing/Trainee Director will work alongside and support the show’s Director Ewa Dina during the rehearsal process. This is an opportunity for an early career artist who has a keen interest in directing live performance to gain more experience. You will observe/support the process from start to finish including text work, staging, movement, music and design. 

Some experience in creating theatre as a performer, actor, designer, stage manager etc. is desirable. This can be in a professional or amateur capacity. Most importantly the role requires someone who is intuitive and open to learning new things. You will be supported throughout by the Iolo team and there is scope for the post to adapt during the process, to ensure you get the most of out of the role and have the chance to develop your skills.

Shadowing/Trainee Director Fee:  £3000 in total (5 weeks at £600 a week)

Dates: 9 September - 9 October 2024. You may also be required to meet members of the Creative Team and to attend production meetings prior to these dates.

Stage Manager

We are seeking an experienced Stage Manager for our new production, The Welsh Dragon. We are particularly interested in hearing from those who also have experience as a sound technician / engineer.

Applicants must be over 25, have a full driving licence, and be willing and able to drive our company van whilst on tour.   

Stage Manager Fee: £4800 (8 weeks at £600 a week)

Deputy Stage Manager

We are seeking a Deputy Stage Manager for our new Production, The Welsh Dragon. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who may just be embarking on a career in stage management and/or have some experience as a technician / sound technician.

Deputy Stage Manager Fee: £3300 (6 weeks at £550 a week)
