TYA Cymru (Theatre for Young Audiences) has been relaunched by children’s theatre company, Theatr Iolo, as they seek to support theatre makers in Wales to develop more work for children and young people.

The network will offer support to producing companies, venues and individual artists, to develop and produce theatre and performance for young audiences. Theatr Iolo, who make work for children and young people aged 0-16, have received support from the Arts Council of Wales’ Sharing Together fund to help develop the network and strengthen the offer for young audiences in Wales.

As part of the funding they have received, Theatr Iolo will be offering bursaries to cover the membership fee for at least 10 freelancers who are committed to making, supporting and developing theatre for young audiences in Wales.

To celebrate the relaunch of the network, Theatr Iolo are hosting an open, online event where companies, venues, and individuals can find out more about becoming a member of TYA Cymru, as well as get a taste for the benefits they will receive should they join.

The first TYA Cymru Network Session will take place on Thursday 15 September 2022 from 10am until 12pm. The session is free and open to all. The event will take place on Zoom and include two guest speakers. Audience specialist, Indigo, will be speaking about what they have learned about family audiences in Wales during and beyond Covid, whilst the Arts Council of Wales will share more information on their Go and See Fund, providing funding for schools to attend cultural events.
