Theatr Iolo presents

Owl at Home

Based on the illustrated children’s book by Arnold Lobel.
Adapted for the stage by Rina Vergano and Theatr Iolo.

Owl lives alone in a cosy little home in a hollow tree in the woods. With no one to talk to, Owl sings to himself and looks for ways to pass the time. He wonders about things a lot. What will happen if he invites winter into his home? And can he be in two places at once?

As his imagination runs away with him, ordinary objects begin to take on a life of their own and Owl finds an unexpected friend who’s willing to follow him to the ends of the earth... whether he likes it or not!

An enchanting tale with music, Owl at Home shows us how friendship can be found in the most unlikely of places.

Age Guidance: 5 - 11 years old

Information for D/deaf audiences

Owl at Home is performed by one actor, who plays Owl. Owl doesn’t talk much during the show, so the story is mostly told through action and movement.

As there isn’t a lot of talking in the show, Owl at Home won’t have BSL interpreted performances. Instead, we have created a downloadable song book, with the words to the songs, as well as a visual guide to the show, explaining key moments, sights and sounds.

Information for blind and partially sighted audiences:
Listen to our Audio flyers and find out more about our Audio Described performances for young people who are blind or partially sighted.

Following the postponement of our tour of Owl at Home, based on the illustrated children's book by Arnold Lobel, we've created a series of short videos with George Williams, the actor and musician who was due to appear in the show in May 2020. George brings the Owl at Home stories to life for you to enjoy together as a family. Twit-twoo!

Our Owl at Home stories are also available to listen to on our podcast channel
